This page contains links to external websites that contain useful information relevant to the operation of our Meade LX200 GPS

The CAS telescope Manual and other material is located on the Telescope Manuals & Training Page.

Notes & Cautions |
To track satellites you need to update the elements in the telescope. This website allows you to download the latest elements which youcan then enter into the telescope and it should slew to the position of the start of visibility of the saellite. Of course it has to be actually passing overhead at the time of observation. The pass details can be checked on the Heavens Above Website |
Requires registration with US Space Comand prior to downloading the elements. Elements may cease to be available in the case of threatened enemy attack ! |
Allows you to view the Satellite passes over Kenley (and other locations) for a particular night. Good for planing satellite observations |

Minor Planet Centre Page to download Comet & Asteroid Elements - available for Meade Autostar |
Note there are a lot of Asteroids so the file you download may be VERY large |
Online AutoStar Suite Manual for Software as installed at Kenley |
Beware the links to the Asteroid, Comet & Satellite elements at the bottom of the page are several years out of date and therefore useless !! |
This allows you to download an updated version of the Meade AutoStarSuite software. In addition there are links with details of some of the revised features. Some of these are dedicated to the Meade DSI / LPI so will not be relevant to Kenley. |
Will only work if you have a previous version of AutoStarSuite installed |
This website has information on the Meade AutoStar Suite software that allows the telescope to be controlled from a computer. A lot of information is not relevant as it concentrates on the Meade LPI & DSI cameras but there is information on the control software itself and also forums on the Lx200 GPS telescopes. |
May not be updated as the Blogs appear to have stopped around February 2007. |
A useful link when you become more familiar with the telescope. There is a lot of good material here but you really need to understand the telescope before you delve to deeply into here. It is however useful for answering questions on items that the Meade manual is not clear on. |
