The CAS Virtual Observatory Page
This page contains links to sites that provide information that will be useful if you are doing an Astronomy Course, writing a lecture or searching for that elusive new comet, asteroid or variable star. The sites below are not designed to deliver 'Pretty Images' mostly they hold calibrated scientific data.
The links on this page should expand as more data from the Virtual Observatory becomes available on the web.
Many of the images that can be accessed from this page are in FITS format so you will need a viewer that is capable of understanding these files some examples are in the Software section below. You will also find a broadband Internet connection useful as some of the data files are quite large. While some of the software will run under Windows the professional software tends to only be available for Linux / Unix.
